Creating Enterprise Skills for Students

SkillZone Workshops

A range of interactive workshops which help you develop the skills you need to create your own future! There is a wide range on offer such as:

  • Have you got the E-factor?;
  • Introduction to working for yourself;
  • Develop your creative problem solving skills;
  • Develop your networking skills;
  • Develop your presentation and persuasion skills

The workshops extend from one hour to a full day and are available on a first come, first served basis in our SkillZone and across campus.

Highland Innovation Week

The purpose of this week was to inspire innovation, creativity and enterprise in our region.  Over 360 learners, staff and business colleagues attended the various events and lectures that took place in Highland Innovation Week 2012, including a Public Lecture sponsored by LifeScan Scotland Ltd and delivered by Professor Alistair Fee, Visiting Professor from Queen’s University Belfast, entitled: “Dare to Innovate – the time is now!”

We are now looking forward to Highland Innovation Week 2013.

Create Enterprise Club

Why not come along to our Enterprise Club and meet like-minded people?  The Club is for all students and staff who want to be inspired and have fun learning about enterprise. We have an interesting guest or two each time and the feedback is great! No need to book! Normally, last Wednesday of each month – see website for details.

Bespoke Courses

Ever thought of starting your own business but don’t know where, or how, to start? Or looking to develop enterprising skills? Ask your lecturer, or pop in and see us at the Create office.

UHI Business Idea Competition

Ever thought that you could improve on an existing product or service? Ever had an idea to solve a problem in the community or improve the lot of a particular group of people, for example a business that would help students enjoy their studies even more, an idea to help the environment and so on? The UHI Business Idea Competition is for you. In the 2012 competition we had £7,500 in cash prizes and 170 entries.  Will you be a winner in 2013?
